Description: Basic Infoskills will introduce the Library to patrons who are new to our Library or have not used our services and resources in a while. Students who complete the class will:

v      Know what the Library has to offer them for their career and educational needs.

v      Be able to gain access to the Library’s services and resources, either at the Library, in their office, or at home.

v      Use Library resources, including the catalog, journal holdings, and online databases, to find and obtain the resources that they need.

CINAHL Plus with Full Text

Description: 

This class will prepare nurses to use the CINAHL Plus with Full Text database to obtain research papers and other materials that will help them in their practice, with continuing education, and in establishing policy and procedure.

By the end of the class, students will:

v     Know what CINAHL Plus is, and what resources it contains that can   assist them in their professional and academic lives.

v      Be familiar with the CINAHL Plus search interface and its many features.

v      Know how to conduct a search using the PICO format.

OvidSP Databases

Description: 

This session will provide an introduction to the Ovid databases and interface for physicians, nurses, managers, and students, as well as others, wishing to search the medical literature in an efficient and productive manner. By the end of the class, students will:

v      Be familiar with the Ovid suite of databases and the types of searches for which they’re suited.

v      Know how to use the Ovid search interface to create and modify a search, and be able to create a bibliography and/or obtain relevant papers.

v      Be aware of other Ovid features, such as personal accounts and AutoAlerts.

RefWorks

Description:
RefWorks is an online (web-based) service that helps you format reseach papers and create bibliographic or reference lists.  The software package enables you to: 

v      Organize your research.

v      Include citations while you write your paper.

v      Build a bibliography in a variety of formats (APA! or other).

v      Import references from many data sources.

v     Create bibliographies in different document formats (Word, RTF, HTML, etc.).

v      RefShare, an additional component, allows sharing of references within a work group. 

Web-based means no software to download and update, and you can access your personal account from any computer connected to the internet—simply enter the OSF specific RefWorks code at the prompt.  RefWorks is provided to all OSF employees!
