The Patient Education Institute’s catalog of
online tutorials and print handouts is available only to OSF Saint Francis
Medical Center users. The link above will take you to the SFMC Library Portal,

Use this resource to provide both
Adult PALS and Pediatric PALS. PALS is an acronym for the Patient Advisory
Leaflet System. Handouts may be customized. This resource is
especially valuable for providing handouts in a variety of languages, including
Spanish, Russian, Portuguese, Chinese, Korean, and many more.
Health-PALS - Patient Advisory Leaflets covering
over 900 condition cases and hospital procedures and tests available in English
and Spanish. Health-PALS also includes an additional 1700 topics that go beyond
the fact sheets and discuss more in-depth strategies for dealing with conditions
and procedures |

MD Consult licenses its handouts from these vendors in
patient education: American Academy of Family Physicians, DynoMed.com, McKesson Clinical Reference, and
Well-Connected. Spanish handouts are included. Handouts range from
the very basic to the very comprehensive, and are customizable.

MicroMedex provides handouts in English and Spanish that are customizable and
also include our OSF logo. MicroMedex also includes Lab Tests handouts for
patients. Be sure to choose your OSF location, and click "GO" before
searching so that your specific logo will be printed on handouts.

Mosby’s NursingConsult |

Roughly 8,000 patient education handouts are
included in Mosby’s Nursing
Consult with key topics available in
Spanish as well as English. Also included is a set of roughly 240 Emergency
Department Discharge Instructions. A Print Manager tool allows users to
customize handouts for each patient and control how handouts print.
