Approved Resources with Non-English Handouts

Patient Education Institute Tutorials - Tutorials, and their accompanying handouts, can be located on the Patient Education Institute website.
To locate a tutorial, limit your search to Spanish language tutorials by choosing "Spanish" in the language drop-down menu. You can also limit your search by specialty.

MDConsult - To locate Spanish language handouts, Select the Patient Education Tab, and locate the "All Topics" section on the left side of the site. Topics are listed in A-Z order.

Micromedex - To locate Spanish language CareNotes, search for a topic as you would usually. If a Spanish resource is available, it will be listed in your search results.

MedlinePlus - MedlinePlus is available as a Spanish website. Click here to access. To view any health topic in Spanish, you can find it first in English, then in the upper right hand corner, click on the yellow "espanol" tab to view the topic in Spanish.

LexiComp Online - Drug Information handouts in many languages - Spanish, French, Russian, Portuguese, Korean, and many more.

SFMC Produced Spanish Board - 3 page handout with medical pictures and a Spanish translation.

U.S. Food and Drug Administration
List of Spanish publications mostly available online. Topics include safe use of medication, diabetes, eating healthy, etc.
American Heart Association
Several patient education brochures published by the AHA are also available in Spanish.
Health Information Translations
Collaborative initiative to improve health education for limited English proficiency patients. Documents accessible in many languages including Spanish.
Virginia Department of Health
Provides translations to help health care workers take care of Spanish-speaking patients. Also contains links to resources to help workers understand cultural differences.
